New Details Concerning Our Annual Meeting AT NAPEX

FRIDAY Program

Our society will meet from 1 PM to about 4 PM on Friday afternoon, June 9.  We have three speakers lined up with very interesting topics.

Richard Aspnes, head of the Indochina group will speak on Indochina Labor Camps for WWI.

Tom Marra will be talking on  “Postal History of the French Indian Settlements During the Classic Period

Finally, Ken Nilsestuen will discuss “Mystery and History – All from a Fragment.”  You might guess that the subject fragment is from Algeria.

Watch the NAPEX program for the room and to confirm the time.  We will have a short open discussion afterwards.

FRIDAY Evening Dinner

Your sometimes brash president got us invited to the NAPEX dinner on Friday evening, June 9, 2017 sponsored by the Collectors Club (NY).  Thanks to the stellar work of their Ad Hoc Site Selection Subcommittee, we will be eating in the “Marzen Room” at the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant in Tysons Corner, VA. In addition to our two groups, the Indochina study group will also join us.  Spouses and friends are welcome to attend.  The restaurant is located less than a mile from the Hilton Tysons Corner NAPEX venue.

A three-course dinner is on offer, with a choice of Bruschetta Chicken, Grilled Salmon, or Grilled Top Sirloin Steak.  A sinful dessert of triple chocolate brownie will finish off the meal.  In addition to a selection of wines, a variety of Gordon Biersch craft beers will be available on a cash basis.

The speaker is Roger Brody, whose topic will be the five cent Jamestown stamp (picturing Pocahontas).

The anticipated cost for the dinner is $43 per person.

Contact point for reservations is our recording secretary Ed Grabowski at  Please reserve right away to ensure you are included in the fun.

I certainly hope to see you there!

 Best regards,

                 Ken Nilsestuen, President, FCPS
